There’s something special about using found and salvaged pieces to create from.
It fosters an appreciation and respect for what is out there and for the beauty in the world around us.
I live on a small island in a country with a very large heart.
Travel will often inspire, but Canada is filled with so much natural beauty and encouragement that it often seems as though making art is simply a second nature to listen, learn and continue on with the gifts that surround us.
I ‘pick up’ wood from hurricane and storm debris, construction and the sea, vintage, salvaged and forgotten pieces, fabric ends, old clothes… almost anything, and try to turn it into something that might inspire a smile.
The world around us is special no matter where we are. I find this little island, the ocean that surrounds it, and the people who thrive on it, endlessly fascinating and a constant muse. One miracle of a Lobsterman in particular :)
